Krispy Kreme to launch in SA
Global doughnut brand signs a deal for 31 South African stores over five years.

Global company Krispy Kreme has announced that it’s signed a development agreement with local company KK Doughnuts SA to open 31 Krispy Kreme shops in South Africa over the next five years. This is the company’s first foray in to Africa but the company’s story first started nearly 80 years ago in 1937 in Old Salem, North Carolina. Vernon Rudolph bought a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe from a French chef in New Orleans and began selling his doughnuts to local grocery stores. The company’s signature Original Glazed Doughnut is served hot and is still as popular today as it was back then.
We’re confident that this popular international brand will quickly become a South African favourite.

We’re confident that this popular international brand will quickly become a South African favourite.”
Krispy Kreme sells an assortment of food and beverage products, and has a number of product platforms within their doughnut range including yeast raised doughnuts, cake doughnuts, doughnut holes, mini doughnuts and doughnut pops. Outside the USA it sells a baked platform of products called Baked Creations which include sweet and savoury options.
